Excited to be playing with you guys! This page should (hopefully) serve as a quick reference for info about the game and where to find useful resources.
We’ll be running an early-level Dungeons & Dragons campaign using the 5th Edition ruleset. This will span ~8-12 sessions, and take you from levels 1-5 in-game.
Session 1 is booked for Feb 8
Session 2 is booked for Feb 22
To start things off, we’ll book a Session Zero for January. This is your chance to meet the group, coordinate roles & backgrounds, and get guidance on filling out your character sheet before we dive into the game.
After that,
I prefer flexible gameplay over decision trees. I like to prepare for sessions with a short list of possible locations/NPCs/items/events, then improvise them together.
Please bear in mind that flexible gameplay has its natural limits: If you go hard off-the-rails, that choice may prove detrimental to the pace of the narrative. Choose your wildcard moments judiciously.
To keep the game moving, we will not be overly concerned with low-level accounting of supplies. E.g., you do not need to track non-rare spell inputs, you do not need to track currency denominations below gold, and you can assume you have your adventurer’s pack + food supply topped off automatically.
In the same vein, I use a table mic to run an automated transcript of the game using Whisper-X, then reference that to type up a summary of each session so we have a common record of events to draw from (See example). Taking your own notes to have a live record of the current session is still a good idea.
You’re encouraged but not required to get into character. Costumes, voices, in-character responses welcome.
